Jellyfish are thought to pre-date the dinosaurs by millions of years. As part of NASA’s first Spacelab Mission in 1991, over 2,000 moon jellyfish polyps were launched into space on the space shuttle Columbia. They reproduced in space, creating over 60,000 jellies, but the space-bred jellies weren’t able to function properly when they returned to Earth.
